CityPASS “Happy Traveler” Contest Winner to Visit New York City

New York, N.Y. (September 25, 2012) —
Dallas-area resident Carla Cordisco has been chosen as one of two winners of a CityPASS® “Happy Traveler” vacation valued at nearly $7,000. The trip package includes round-trip airfare for two, a four-night Manhattan hotel stay, CityPASS ticket booklets to the winner’s destination of choice, an allowance to put toward a rental car or public transportation, and $1,000 that can be used for meals, shopping and other expenses. Cordisco chose New York City as her destination.
In celebration of its 15th anniversary, City Pass, the company that packages — at tremendous savings — the top attractions in 11 North American destinations, has pledged to give away two “Happy Traveler” vacations. Cordisco was chosen randomly last week from more than 15,000 entries. A second winner will be chosen on March 1, 2013 (entries may be submitted until Feb. 28, 2013). “I’ve always wanted to go to New York City,” Cordisco said, “but it’s so expensive that I would tell my friends I’d have to win a trip in order to go. And now I have!”
2012 marks a milestone anniversary of the CityPASS program. Launched in San Francisco and Seattle simultaneously in 1997, the program is the brainchild of co-CEOs Mike Gallagher and Mike Morey, who parlayed their respective attraction marketing and industry research skills into the creation of an easy-to-use pass offering prepaid admission — and often line-skipping VIP access — to a city’s most popular sights. In subsequent years, new destinations were added, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hollywood, Houston, New York City, Philadelphia, Toronto and Southern California, which covers admission to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure Park, Universal Studios Hollywood and SeaWorld San Diego.
Fifteen years and 10 million CityPASS ticket booklets later, the program only seems to be gaining in popularity. A July 2011 survey of CityPASS visitors in New York City found that 99 percent said they would recommend a CityPASS ticket booklet to their friends and family members. And in the “Reviews” section of the CityPASS website, travelers give the passes an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
“I’m really excited,” Cordisco said about her upcoming trip. “I’ve wanted to see The Metropolitan Museum of Art since I was in high school.”
